Women's Studies Centre at the Budapest University of Economic Sciences and Public Administration.
The Women's Studies Centre at the Budapest University of Economics has been officially set up in October 1992. The missions of WSC is to introduce the gender aspects into education and research; to accomplish the gender mainstreaming strategy of the European Union; to realise a general change of mind-style and mentality of society through education and mass media. The strategic fields (teaching, research, information) are submitted to these missions.
The Women's Studies Centre organizes courses on: "Social Position of Women and Men", "The Successful Women", "The Social Position of Women from a Historical Point of View", "Women in the labour market", "Women in Hierarchy", "Communication skills for women", There is no degree in women's studies, the courses are so called "elective courses" every student can choose them. The centre also participates in special training programs.
The present research programs are: The feminization process after the transition; European Net for Mainstreaming; Tackling the Gender Gap in the Labour Market. A student research group works at the Women's Studies Center. The centre is taking part in some international networks. Beside WISE, these are IAFFE and ENWS.
